What is Trauma informed Yoga?
Trauma informed Yoga is a client centered modality of Yoga in which the guide has gained through knowledge, understanding, and respect the impact of trauma to the body, nervous system, and mind. This modality supports embodiment through asana, breathwork, and meditation guided by a teacher who makes a conscious decision to take this vantage while providing a grounding support system.
Renown Somatic and Trauma expert Dr. Peter Levine shares that when trauma occurs it is not only stored in the mind but also in the body. Emphasizing that profound healing and recovery occurs when the body is invited to integrate these experiences through Somatic based practices such as Yoga.

Yoga is a powerful practice that supports the ability to self-regulate and invites body awareness. When Trauma occurs, it is stored in the body and/or nervous system. Talk therapy is incredibly helpful however it is only accessing one part of the lived experience and may not always make space for the felt sensations and experience of the body.
Trauma stored in the body can manifest in different symptoms, and ailments. Somatic experiences like Trauma informed Yoga support an invitation to integrate these experiences, move through them and invite completion.
Private sessions are held in my home studio in the city of Highland.

The work and research of
Dr. Stephen Porges informs us of the Vagus nerve's (the key component of our nervous system) connection to trauma. When our nervous system is in a constant state of stress, anxiety and burn out it effects the way we relate to the world and others.
Grounding practices such as Yoga have been shown to improve vagal tone which is supportive of mental and physical health. Through different Yogic practices we work towards supporting the nervous system, strengthening vagal tone. Allowing us to remain open and receptive to the world and those around us in a supportive way. But more importantly creating safety in the body to find a safe landing space within.

Breathwork (Pranayama) are various ancient breathing exercises that involve regulating the breath. Here you are safely guided into a deeper state of consciousness, connecting to your own inner guide to show us what needs to be seen and felt in order to integrate. Connecting to a more supportive, compassionate and embodied self.

Meditation and mindfulness are powerful tools for cultivating inner peace and calm. Join me for a guided meditation class and learn how to quiet your mind and connect with your own inner wisdom. Cultivating a supportive meditation has been proven to encourage overall feelings of well-being and wholeness.

I consider myself a forever student of Yoga. As a naturally curious person I dive deep into practices and ideas that have illuminated my own path of wholeness and healing. I share from both an intuitive space and from my own experience. Come experience carefully curated workshops to support you on your Yogic and wholeness path.

You have complete sovereignty as to how you would like to engage with your retreat experience. All offerings are optional, and you are encouraged to trust your own inner knowing. There are no expectations other than for you to be, whatever that may look like moment to moment.
Regardless of participation, all participants are required to sign a liability waiver prior to arriving to our desert retreat.
Schedule of Events: You’ll receive the retreat schedule roughly two weeks before the retreat so you can arrive feeling prepared and grounded.
Address details will be shared within 48 hours of booking. Our secluded Desert experience is located in 29 Palms, Ca. There are dirt roads to the house but well-traveled, any car can drive on them.
Because retreat options require advance planning and limited availability, all retreat purchases are non-refundable. The event will be held as scheduled regardless of weather, and no refunds will be issued due to weather-related conditions.

My name is Blanca; I am your Yoga facilitator at Embodied Breath Wellness. I am a 500hr registered Yoga teacher and a certified trauma informed guide. I believe so deeply in the healing and regenerative power of Yoga. As someone who struggled for years with anxiety and depression, I came to Yoga when my mind, body and spirit needed it the most. Through the practice of Yoga, I slowly began to reclaim my body, soothe my nervous system, calm my mind and found a safe landing space within.
I approach yoga as a tool for self-discovery, personal growth, and incremental, profound healing. As I move through life, I have learned that different practices hold us on our healing journey. Yoga is a profound practice that invites integration of the entire SOMA- mind, body and spirit.
